PRESS CUTTINGS

SEPTEMBER 1928

Two cuttings of interest here.

The first is the one for Barnfield (Bodiam) Club.  Bodiam had two Cricket Clubs in 1928, Barnfield (which I think took its name from the Barn Field at Ockham - is there a house there now called Barnfield House?) and the Junction Cricket Club.  The Junction Cricket Club were named after the pub and the area of the same name (but the pub has now changed its name to the Curlew).  I would be grateful if anyone could help me with correct information on the two clubs.

The second item is one that made me smile and chuckle.  "Police Constable Attacked" - it seems that even in 1928 drinkers were upset about getting chucked out of the pub - especially at hop picking time.
